Another day in the books! The day started with a morning walk in 39-degree weather—far too cold for my taste and not your typical Florida climate. The chill didn’t just nip at my cheeks; it made me question my decision to step outside!

But as much as I wanted to stay bundled up indoors, I knew this was about more than getting steps in. It was about setting the tone for the day. Despite the frosty start, I managed to push through, feeling accomplished and ready to tackle everything on my list.
First on that list? Water—a gallon of it. It’s a lot, yes, but I’ve learned that the key is to front-load most of it before lunchtime. Starting the day with consistent sips and aiming to get more than halfway through the gallon by noon makes the rest of the day much easier.
Fasting and Focus
Mindful eating is another cornerstone of this challenge, and today I stuck with my 18:6 fasting schedule. I’ve been trying to chew slowly, set my utensil down between bites, and make sure each portion is half the size of my spoon or fork. Taking the time to enjoy the tastes and sensations in my mouth has helped me focus on my body’s cues rather than eating out of habit.

A Rewarding Workout
By evening, it was time to shift gears and hit the weights. My strength session felt especially rewarding today. There’s something empowering about finishing that last set and knowing you’re stronger than yesterday. Combined with the morning walk, these workouts are shaping up to be my daily bookends of movement.
Feeding the Mind
Of course, this challenge isn’t just about the physical. I carved out some quiet time to read 10 pages, feeding my mind with insights and inspiration. Today’s reading felt especially impactful.
- Bible Study on Isaiah 59: I was reminded that sin, destruction, and evil are present all around me. Yet, I have the choice to put on the armor of God. Jesus took my place on the cross, granting me the gift of righteousness. While I can’t control every situation or person around me, I can choose to live with integrity and fairness. By doing so, I guard my mind and heart, enabling me to navigate the world with purpose, protection, and a readiness to serve wherever I’m needed.
- Atomic Habits: I was struck by the reminder that the inequities of the world don’t often hit us all at once—they creep in little by little. The encouraging part? We can flip the script. Big waves aren’t necessary to create lasting change; small habits, compounded over time, are just as powerful.
- The Roll Model: I learned how poor movement habits can slowly erode the integrity and function of our tissues, eventually leading to pain and injury. It reinforced the importance of making changes now, even if it’s just by 1% each day. Those tiny adjustments add up to significant differences in the future.
Life’s challenges can be overcome through small, intentional steps rooted in faith, integrity, and consistent effort. By embracing daily improvements, we build a foundation for lasting change and a purposeful, healthier life.

Balancing Life and the Challenge
Today was full of errands, including a visit to what might soon be my future physical therapy office. The excitement of seeing that dream take shape added an extra layer of motivation to everything I did. Balancing the challenge with everyday responsibilities, like preparing for the kids’ return to school next week, felt like a little preview of how this program can fit into my life, no matter how hectic things get.
Day 3 wasn’t just successful; it was hopeful. If I can find a rhythm now, I know I’ll be able to keep it going next week and beyond. Onward to Day 4!
