Building Momentum

Morning Habits

Today marks the fourth day of my journey, and I’m proud to say I’ve kept up with all my habits without any major struggles. To make sure I don’t forget the little things—like weighing myself and taking my progress selfies—I’ve made them part of my morning routine. Knocking them out first thing has been a great way to stay consistent.

Insights from Reading

Interestingly, the common theme in my reading today revolved around the word “through.” Two of the books even mentioned a “breakthrough moment.” They emphasized the importance of staying consistent with habits and hard work, even when results aren’t immediately visible—not after a week, or even months. But then, all of a sudden, everything changes, and you experience significant gains that others finally notice. What they don’t see is the effort it took to get there; they only see the result. It’s been a rewarding habit, and I’m finding that I genuinely look forward to it. It’s a moment to pause, think about what went well, and decide how I can improve.

Small Wins and Daily Discipline

One moment I’m especially proud of today happened at lunchtime. While shopping at Costco, I resisted the temptation to grab their famous $1.50 hot dog and soda. Instead, I split a chicken Caesar salad with my husband and limited the use of dressing. I also avoided the soda, opting for bottled water instead. It’s these small victories that make me feel stronger and more in control of my choices.

As for the rest of my goals, I hit them all again today. It feels good to see progress, both physically and mentally. Little by little, this process is teaching me discipline, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. At the end of the day, I journal. Writing this blog has become my form of journaling. Taking time to reflect while I write helps me process the day and plan for tomorrow.
