Today, I’m still prioritizing yoga as I continue menstruating. It feels like the right choice for my body, though I’m excited to see how I can stick with my weight training program through next month’s cycle. I’ve noticed a pattern: I feel so much better when I limit highly processed, sugary foods—especially during my period. Yet somehow, I tend to drift back to them. Why do I do that when the benefits of staying mindful are so clear

During my cycle, I usually experience moderate abdominal cramps, a tightness in my lower back, and a heaviness in my pelvic floor. After my pregnancies, I developed a mild vaginal prolapse that caused some pressure during my daily activities, though it didn’t stop me from staying active. Over the past decade, the symptoms have lessened—now it’s just a heaviness for the first couple of days of menstrating. Still, I haven’t had it checked recently, and I’m curious about what my physician might say now.
Growth Through Discomfort & Change
Reflecting on spiritual and physical wisdom today, I found inspiration in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers.” It’s a reminder that we should strive to overcome challenges with goodness. Similarly, The Roll Model reminds us that to heal and grow, we often need to “get comfortable with our discomfort.” This could mean pushing through adhesions—those physical or mental barriers holding us back—and leaning into the work required to reach our full potential.
Both Atomic Habits and The Roll Model echoed this idea in my reading today: change becomes more attainable in a new environment or when we redefine the problem. Naming the unwanted behavior or pain differently creates fresh context, allowing us to recognize subtle triggers and escape old patterns.
To break free from stagnation, we must keep moving—toward healing, growth, and even discomfort when it’s necessary. After all, motion is lotion. Movement heals.
I’m must one cup of water away and one indoor workout away from meeting all goals! See you tomorrow!
