This morning started with a 10k cross-country style race which was scheduled for 8 AM. I kicked off the day by hydrating and preparing for the event. My husband joined me, and we met up with a friend for the run. Having a community for events like these not only motivates me but also makes the process more enjoyable. Of course, crossing the finish line to earn a t-shirt and medal added a little extra satisfaction to the morning!
To celebrate, my husband and I enjoyed a post-race breakfast date. I opted for a wholesome avocado toast meal—sticking to nutritious choices to fuel my body while avoiding heavy carbs and sugars. Small victories like these keep me on track and feeling energized.
Breathing With Purpose
Today’s Bible study brought me to an incredible realization about the importance of breath. In my Instagram video series, Breathing With Purpose, I’ve been exploring the mechanics of mindful breathing and its effects on the body. As I reflected on the breastplate in the Armor of God—meant to protect our vital organs—I thought about how our lungs, so crucial to life, are often overlooked in terms of care.
Breathing isn’t just automatic; it’s a tool we can use to influence our heart rate, emotional responses, and even stress levels. Poor posture, however, can interfere with our natural breathing patterns, leading to musculoskeletal issues over time. This reminded me that both physical and spiritual training are essential for carrying life’s burdens. Like a well-worn breastplate, practice and strength transform what initially feels heavy into a natural part of us.

Posture: A Metaphor for Life
How we carry ourselves—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—defines how we endure life’s challenges. Poor posture doesn’t just affect breathing; it’s a reflection of habits that, if left unaddressed, can lead to weaknesses over time. Similarly, neglecting our spiritual health can make life’s burdens feel insurmountable.
This analogy brought me back to the race this morning. Just as physical training prepares us to handle the miles ahead, spiritual discipline equips us to navigate life’s challenges. Whether it’s improving posture or strengthening faith, both require consistency and action.
Action Over Perfection
The lessons from James Clear’s teachings resonate deeply: it’s action, not speculating over perfection, that delivers results. Habits are formed through repetition, not continuous planning and theorizing. Each step, no matter how small, wires our brain and body to adapt and grow stronger.
This brings me to one of my favorite motivational mantras: “Just Do It.” Taking that first step—whether it’s lacing up for a race, practicing mindful breathing, or opening the Bible—is what leads to transformation. By showing up consistently, we align ourselves to bear the loads of life with grace and strength.

Closing Thought
Reflecting on today’s experiences, Matthew 11:28-30 serves as a powerful reminder:
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light..”
The race we run—both literal and figurative—is one of endurance, growth, and faith. By taking purposeful action, we lighten our load and train ourselves to live in alignment with what matters most.
